The brake system is especially in charge of stopping or slowing down the car. They usually include disks (disk brake and drum brake), the brake calipers, a selection of tubes and hoses made specifically for that assembly, the master cylinder, and the brake rotors. The rotors, together with the drum brake, are the spinning units of the braking system. They act as a surface for the brake pads to work on. Brake rotors must also be sturdy enough to bear the heat caused by repeated braking.

Because rotors are often subjected to high temperatures, frequent inspections are a must, to make sure they’re working properly. The rotor and brake pads can sometimes wear altogether, typically in the shapes of grooves and ridges where the brake pedal rubs on it. The brake rotors must be resurfaced each time the brake pads need to be changed, because brake pads require a smooth and even surface to work on.

However, when it comes to this procedure, only a small amount of metal must be scraped off a rotor before it becomes defective and must be replaced. Brake rotors must have enough metal on their parts to absorb and dispel heat. That’s why most rotors are marked with a “desired thickness” label on the casting.

Every part of the braking system needs all the care and proper upkeep it can get. With properly-working Acura RSX brake rotors tucked on your disk brake assembly, chances are great that your car is in for a highly-regarded performance. Most importantly, safety will always be in the cards.
